In the Fall of 2018, we launched our US Operations within the major U.S. markets, focusing on attorney placements into the M&A, technology, emerging companies, venture capital, and entertainment / media sectors. However, we are full-service and have extensive experience in attorney placements across various corporate, finance, and litigation practice areas.
Evan Jowers, along with maintaining the most successful Asia-focused legal recruiting practice in the industry, also has placed attorneys into private practice and in-house roles in the following US cities / markets: New York, San Diego, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Orange County, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Chicago, Boston, Denver, Boulder, New Orleans, Washington DC, Atlanta, Northern Virginia, and Charlotte. In recent years, Evan’s recruiting focus in the US markets has been primarily at the partner level. Evan was an associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York, and also in-house for a large Miami based company before he moved into attorney recruiting. Evan received his JD from Boston University.
Alexis Lamb (Partner and Head of Operations) has over a decade of experience recruiting for large, mid-sized, and boutique law firms as well as public and private corporations and financial institutions within the U.S. and Asia. She has recruited and placed associates, partners, and in-house counsel within private practice roles and companies in the financial services, life sciences, media, technology, and nonprofit industries.
Alexis’ experience includes serving as a senior recruiter for two New York-based recruiting agencies. Prior to joining Jowers Vargas, Alexis was Director of Talent at Bliss Lawyers, a New York-based “NewLaw” alternative legal services provider. Alexis has placed attorneys in New York, New Jersey, California, Seattle, Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, and even Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Prior to moving into recruiting, Alexis was an associate at O’Melveny in New York and Linkaters in Hong Kong. She received her JD from the University of Texas at Austin.
Alexis also has substantial experience advising Canadian-qualified attorneys looking to relocate to the US and other parts of the world.
Jason Cunningham (Partner) is based in Boston and focuses on partner, associate, and counsel recruitment in the Boston and New York markets. He also has experience making placements and running searches out of Los Angeles, London, and Hong Kong. Jason received his JD from Harvard and practiced as an associate for seven years at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP in both their litigation and real estate groups in the Los Angeles and New York offices. Prior to joining our company, Jason founded and ran a successful recruiting company, Lodestar Recruiting, which he merged with Jowers Vargas in 2017.
Jason also heads up our recruiting of attorney recruiters to join our team and continue our expansion in the US markets.
Joshua Carr (Recruiter) has deep experience as a relationship-builder in the US markets as well as in the Asia markets. A consummate “people connector,” Josh is a maestro at linking the right associate personalities with the firms that best fit their “vibe.”
